5月21日下午，一场暴雨骤然来袭，南部顷刻之间被洪流覆盖。

骤雨倾盆，短时间内的大量降水，使城区多条道路被雨水覆盖，车辆淌水而过。
南部县气象局雨情快报
5月21日08时至5月22日07时，我县出现了一次阵水天气过程，并伴有雷电、短时阵性大风等强对流天气。根据全县42个自动气象监测站点资料统计：达到大暴雨（100毫米以上）的站点6个，达到暴雨（50-100毫米）的站点10个，达到大雨（25-50毫米）的站点17个，小到中雨的站点9个，最大降雨量为定水镇207.8毫米，县城降雨量为100.3毫米。

至21日20时，南部县城区部分低洼地带街道、小区配电室被淹，引发大面积停电。险情发生后，国网南部分公司第一时间启动应急预案，安排部署抢险复电工作。22日暴雨初停，公司骨干工程师分别到受灾最严重的城区、金星、老鸦、定水等地查看灾情，组织抢险。

暴雨袭城，福康供水公司全员行动保供水。按照防汛减灾及安全供水要求，生产部门启动24小时应急值班制，除制水、调度值班人员外，连夜组织30余人次对所有供水设施设备进行全面巡检；维修服务人员24小时全员不休，对县城5处因山体滑坡、堡坎垮塌引发的管网爆裂等险情进行连续抢修作业。
