阆中古城蕴含着深厚的历史人文背景。奇特的布局使其看起来像一个大棋盘，点缀着井然有序的房屋，周围是连绵起伏的山丘和流淌的河流，被认为是一块宝地。如今，在方圆2平方公里的阆中古城内，还较为完好地保留着70余条古老街巷，格局宏大而规整。
The city, with strong cultural and historical background, resembles a large chessboard dotted with orderly houses because of the unique distribution, which is surrounded by rolling hills and flowing rivers, considered to be quite auspicious.Nowadays, in Langzhong ancient town, covering an area of 2 square kilometers, there are more than 70 ancient well-preserved streets which make a majestic and orderly scene.

而张飞牛肉的起源，则是三国时期大将张飞。
The origin of Zhang Fei beef, however, is the great general Zhang Fei during the Three Kingdoms period.
张飞曾经镇守阆中7年，为阆中的发展贡献诸多。他死后，当地百姓为纪念他，为其修建庙宇。
Zhang Fei used to guard Langzhong for seven years, and sacrificed a lot for the development of the city. After his death, local people constructed the temple to commemorate him.
而且他们也明白，记住一件东西最好的办法是将其和食物挂钩，于是名满巴蜀的张飞牛肉诞生了。
And they also understood that the best way to remember something was to associate it with food, and so the famous Zhang Fei beef was born.
悠久的历史、多样的文化、丰富的自然风光，使得阆中成为了旅游胜地。
