世阳镇原名侍郎场，因明朝出有南京兵部尚书韩士英从工部仕郎入仕而名，清末以谐音改为世阳。清宣统二年置乡，民国二十四年为联保，1950年成立世阳乡人民政府，2000年6月建镇。
