朱德故居始建于清代嘉庆末年（公元1820年），是朱家先辈从广东入川的第二住地，至今己有190多年的历史。
这里是一座坐北朝南的土木结构房屋，典型的川北农家小院。朱德从9岁开始在这里住了14年，度过了他的青少年时代。屋内按照朱德离家时的原貌陈列着朱德及其家人使用过的物品，堂屋门楣上方的匾额系一代文豪郭沫若亲笔书赠。屋侧的“双柏树”、“琳琅井”是朱德当年劳动和学习的见证物。

朱德故居。朱德故居纪念馆是1982年8月为纪念中国人民伟大的无产阶级革命家和军事家朱德而建立。
朱德故居位于四川省仪陇县马鞍镇琳琅村朱家大湾。朱德故居为土木结构的三合院瓦房，四周有3300平方米的竹木园林。1980年朱德故居被公布为四川省文物保护单位。1988年被定为全国重点文物保护单位。纪念馆有建筑面积2560平方米，园林面积13400平方米。

在四川东北部峰峦叠嶂的崇山峻岭中，有一座天然五角星形的山峰---琳琅山，因为孕育了红军之父、三军总司令朱德而名震天下。朱德同志故居纪念馆就座落在琳琅山脚下的四川省南充市仪陇县马鞍镇朱德故里景区内。
朱德故居纪念馆于1982年8月1日落成开馆。2005年进行了改扩建，总建筑面积达3760平方米。纪念馆坐北朝南，采用川北民居和现代化建筑相结合的格局，配以园林花草点缀，显得古朴典雅、庄严肃穆。
走上百余级台阶，最先跃入眼帘的是位于纪念馆正门广场中央的汉白玉朱德雕像，高4.2米，神情庄严、目光坚毅，右手挥向前方，伟人风采扑面而来。纪念馆正门上方“朱德同志故居纪念馆”9个金色大字，由邓小平亲笔题写。
整个纪念馆区分为五个展厅，包括勤劳勇敢的佃农子弟、投笔从戎、护国讨袁、寻求真理、旅欧求学、南昌起义、井冈会师、万里长征、抗战八年、解放战争、国务活动等单元，用丰富的图片、翔实的史料、珍贵的文物，讲述了朱德波澜壮阔的革命生涯。
